MEET NEDU: THE NIGERIAN DANCEHALL DUDE

Nedu is the bubbly and humorous type. And by all means, a guy that knows his onions. He is a Nigerian dancehall artiste signed to Syndik8 records. He exudes a lot of charm and quite down to earth.
We cornered him recently....

Where is Nedu from and where did you spend your early life?
I'm from Delta State, Nigeria. I spent my early life in Lagos, where I was born, lived and went to school. I attended kindergarten to high school in Lagos before moving to New York to attain my Bachelors Degree.
How long have you been in the business of what you do and what makes you think you are the man for the job?
Officially since 2012. That was when I released my first single called "Action Man" produced by Ikon. Music has always been something I love doing. I started making music as a hobby in 2005 with my fellow Syndik8 mates; Ikon, Lynxxx and Blink. I thank Jah that the enthusiasm, the love and the creative juices are still flowing till today and beyond! That's how I know I'm the man for the job. Mi Faya Cyant Cold!

A lot of girls think you are naughty and a bit rude on Instagram; are you?
Haha! Naughty? Maybe. Rude? I don't think so. Some people just take IG too seriously. IG is a social media platform and I like to have fun with it. I am a very playful and outgoing person; and my IG is just a l8ttle extension of that. Ask anybody in real life, I am the nicest person ever. (LOL) Follow me on IG by the way, @Nedu_Brazil. I'll be worth your follow!
What is the craziest you have ever been?
Oh wow! I'm an adrenaline junkie. I'm always looking for the next extreme thing/sport. I went sky diving when I was in Dubai. That was pretty crazy. My folks had no idea, but I guess now they do, haha. Hey mom, hey dad!
Are you dating? And who is she?
No, I'm not dating at the moment. This may sound cliche, but I put all my energy and time into music. I know how important quality time and attention are in a relationship, but I can't afford to give that at the moment. Hopefully in the nearest future. Maybe someone reading this will be the future Mrs Brazil, who knows?
You seem close to Tontoh Dikeh; is the relationship intimate?
Haha, hmmm. You people want to put me inside trouble o! Let's just say I had a crush on her and still do. We are really good friends and we have a dope song together called "PLAY"! Ya'll check it out.

How do you see her apart from the way the world sees her?
The world probably sees her as this crazy lady or whatever, but who doesn't have that crazy side to them? If you don't then you are straight up boring. She actually is very gentle , funny, kind hearted, generous, hard working, and most especially she is a strong woman. Big shout out to my girl Tonto aka Wiggy.
What's your style?
My Style is predominantly dancehall fused with other genres. I believe this fusion is the future of dancehall music. Major Lazer for example are tapping into this evolution of Dancehall music . I love the attitude, the subject matters and the feeling you get anytime a Dancehall song comes on! It is a genre that cuts across different demographics, because let's honest. And who doesn't like to dance, haha.
What's your fashion extreme?
Walking on the red carpet naked, haha, just joking. I love ripped jeans, a dope T-shirt, and a Bandanna. You know one of those "in your face" kind of colours, haha.

Who is your role model?
Definitely my dad. I have been told that I am a spitting image of him, both physical and behaviour. He is very caring, selfless and hard working. Love you dad!
What's your passion?
What's simple, Music! Like I said, it was a hobby for the longest until I made it a career. I find myself singing, or writing lyrics wherever I am, even in church! Lol. Just joking.
Who do you adore in the music industry as a whole?
Wow, that's a hard one because there are a lot of amazing talent in the industry. Let me just put it this way, I adore anybody putting in the work and making great music, because at the end of the day that's what we are here to do as musicians.

What do we expect from you in the coming months?
My plan is to conquer one song at a time, I want fans|supporters to grow with each song or project I release till the world finally hears my voice. The ultimate goal is to take this music to a whole new level and open doors and create opportunities beyond just the music itself. Expect a mixtape from me before the end of the year and more banging singles and videos. Just remember the name Nedu, 1 Shot Killah. Jah Bless!
