AN EVENING WITH JIMI AGBAJE IN LONDON

The Lagos State governorship aspirant, under the flagship of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Jimi Agbaje was in London yesterday as part of his political campaign. The evening was brought about to familiarise and engage with his friends and supporters in the UK.
The event was put together by Abayomi Fakorede, Morenike Animasahun, Rosaline Fadipe, Labake Kosoko, PDP UK and its Board of Trustees, under the Chairmanship of Barrister Sympathy Nwosu and Friends of Jimi Agbaje in the UK. The evening attracted a lot of political big wigs in and outside the UK, prominent was Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, former PDP Chairman. The Nigerian community in the UK was led by the Chairman of Central Association Of Nigerians in the UK (CANUK) Mr Bimbo Folayan.
Agbaje, who was surprised by the big turn out, reassured all about his promise of making Lagos State Our Lagos, a state where everyone has a say. He stated that in as much as the Lagos State GDP has quadrupled, so also is the debt, and that needs to be looked into by credible governance. He promised to make Lagos State the mega city it should be, and remove it from it's current position of Number 137 out of 140 worst cities to live in, in the world. Good transport flow, Slums/Urban renewal, a more greener and sustainable environment, Water extending to inner routes, Packing more punch into Primary Education-the educational foundation, paying more attention to vocational skills, health insurance scheme, a job portal that identifies youths' skills, Housing, Fair taxes, Security, Communication, Economic Empowerment and Leadership are all major on his list.

He reckons that Lagos State has no ocean economy in spite of its water surroundings, and that has to be looked into. And he maintains that Lagos State lacks true and selfless leadership, a place where nothing happens except it's beneficial to some quarters. He emphasised that Lagos needs to be freed from its present bondage.
